Doha Festival City Partners with Ministry of Sports and Youth & QSFA to Launch “10,000 Steps Mall Challenge”
Doha Festival City has been selected as the first venue to host the innovative “10,000 Steps Mall Challenge”, an initiative launched in collaboration with the Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) and under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. This national fitness campaign, aiming to invigorate Qatar’s health landscape, will run from 1 July to 31 August 2025, rolling out across several malls in Doha during the summer.
This unique activation will transform Doha Festival City into a dynamic hub of movement and engagement, offering a climate-controlled, accessible alternative to outdoor physical activity during the hottest months of the year. As the first mall in the country to introduce this challenge, Doha Festival City underscores its commitment to community well-being and aligns with Qatar’s national agenda for a healthier, more active society.
Christopher Barton, Director, Asset Management, Doha Festival City, stated:
“We are proud to be the first mall in Qatar to activate this initiative, alongside our valued partners, The Ministry of Sports and Youth and QFSA. At Doha Festival City we go beyond retail to partner with like-minded organizations dedicated to creating life-enhancing initiatives for our citizens and residents alike. We are a vibrant destination that champions well-being and togetherness. Hosting the 10,000 Steps Mall Challenge reflects our dedication to fostering on-site activations that are not only innovative, but also inclusive, accessible, and aligned with the values of our community and nation.”
Participants can track their steps within the mall using the QSFA mobile app. Reaching 10,000 steps unlocks exclusive rewards, while every additional 10 steps boost chances to win exciting weekly and monthly prizes. The challenge encourages participants of all ages to share their progress on social media, fostering a digital community focused on health, positivity, and self-improvement.
Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of QSFA, remarked:
“We are proud to launch the 10,000 Steps Mall Challenge at Doha Festival City, a venue that truly represents a vibrant and active community. We chose to partner with Doha Festival City because it stands out as a true community destination. It’s a place where people come, not just to shop, but to connect, to express themselves, and to participate in something greater. This collaboration brings our national fitness goals into everyday life, seamlessly and effectively. This challenge is part of our broader vision to encourage daily physical activity in accessible, family-friendly environments. By using our mobile app, participants can track their steps exclusively within the mall, promoting wellness in a practical and enjoyable way.”
