Abu Dhabi to Host Arialah Dhow Race, Celebrating UAE Maritime Tradition Abu Dhabi, 28th September, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club is set to organise the Arialah Dhow Race (60ft category) on 3rd October, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region. Over 90 dhows are expected to compete in this high-profile event. Spanning 25 nautical miles, the race will feature a total prize fund of AED4,238,000, distributed up to the 90th place. These generous incentives aim to encourage owners, captains, and sailors to uphold the seafaring traditions of their forefathers, thereby preserving the UAE’s maritime heritage – a cornerstone of the nation’s identity. Regarded as the pinnacle of traditional sailing competitions, the 60ft dhow races are renowned for their long distances, rich prizes, and fierce rivalries. With a long and cherished history, the Arialah Race continues to draw large audiences and enthusiasts, highlighting the exceptional skills of some of the UAE’s most accomplished captains and sailors.
