Bahrain’s Volleyball Team Faces Iran in 6th Islamic Solidarity Games Opener in Riyadh
The Kingdom of Bahrain’s national volleyball team is set to launch its campaign in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games with a highly anticipated match against Iran. The opener will take place at 4pm on Wednesday at the Boulevard Arena in Riyadh, ahead of the Games’ official opening on Friday, with competitions continuing through November 21.
Riding high on the momentum of their historic victory at the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship hosted by Bahrain in June, the team enters the tournament with lofty ambitions. A final tactical training session held on Tuesday emphasized both attack and defence strategies, as the squad prepares for a strong performance in their first match.
Their next challenge will come on Saturday, when they face hosts Saudi Arabia, expected to be a key fixture in the group stage. Coaches are hopeful a strong start will set the tone for a successful tournament.
The Islamic Solidarity Games are seen as a critical platform to reflect the growth of Bahraini volleyball and highlight the country’s sporting progress on both regional and international levels.
Supporting this goal is a delegation of over 180 Bahraini athletes, participating in 19 sports, marking the nation’s largest-ever entry into the Islamic Solidarity Games. As more athletes arrive in Riyadh, Bahrain’s presence at the Games exemplifies its rising stature in the world of sports.
