Doha to Host GCC Padel Championship from September 15
Doha is gearing up to welcome athletes from across the region as it hosts the highly anticipated Arabian Gulf Padel Championship Qatar 2025, set to take place from September 15 to 19. The event will be held at the renowned padel courts at Aspire and is being organized by the Qatar Padel Federation in collaboration with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
At a recent press conference, Tariq Zainal, Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, detailed that the championship will feature three main competition categories: men’s, women’s, and juniors. Preparations include a technical meeting and draw scheduled for September 14, a day ahead of the opening games.
A major announcement from the press event was the signing of a platinum sponsorship agreement between the Qatar Padel Federation and Qatar Rail. The agreement was signed by Tariq Zainal on behalf of the federation and Abdullah Al Mawlawi, Director of Communications and Public Relations at Qatar Rail.
Zainal expressed his appreciation for the partnership, stating, “We are proud of Qatar Rail’s joining as a platinum partner of the Arabian Gulf Padel Championship, given its significant support for sports, athletes, and community work in Qatar.” He emphasized how this collaboration reflects a united front among national institutions and the sports sector, further empowering the federation’s goal to develop padel and enhance its reach across the Gulf and globally.
Looking ahead to the tournament, Zainal welcomed all participating delegations, stressing Qatar’s readiness to host the event at the highest standard: “This Gulf event is a chance to consolidate Qatar’s position as a leading sports destination in the region and the world.”
On behalf of Qatar Rail, Abdullah Ali Al Mawlawi conveyed enthusiasm about backing the tournament, highlighting the initiative’s alignment with the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy. “We are delighted to co-sponsor this important event,” he said. “Our participation as a platinum sponsor of the Arabian Gulf Padel Championship is in line with our constant commitment to supporting sporting events that contribute to spreading the culture of exercising and promoting a healthy lifestyle among community members.”
Al Mawlawi also underlined how sports play a vital role in community development, affirming that “we reaffirm our commitment, particularly to padel, as well as supporting the development of Gulf sporting talents and efforts aimed at consolidating Qatar’s position as a leading regional destination for hosting major sporting events.”
