Intensive Preparations at REHC for Seventh Bahrain International Trophy
Organisational preparations are in full swing at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) for the highly anticipated seventh edition of the Bahrain International Trophy, scheduled to take place this Friday. The prestigious event, supported by Beyon Group, Bapco Energies, the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), Brown Advisory, Grand Seiko – Bahrain Jewellery Centre, Gulf Air, and Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo – Lexus, is set to bring together top-tier owners, trainers, jockeys, and horses from across the globe.
As race day nears, excitement mounts around the battle for the 2025 Bahrain International Trophy, which will spotlight an impressive field of highly rated international horses. Among the standout entries are “Royal Champion” from the United Kingdom, and “Calif”, representing the Kingdom of Bahrain, returning after a third-place finish in last year’s edition.
Anticipation also surrounds the draw for starting gates, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening for the 2000-metre main race. Racing enthusiasts will enjoy a truly international contest, with confirmed entries from multiple countries:
- Bahrain: “Calif”
- United Kingdom: “Lions Pride”, “Persica”, “Pride of Arras”, and “Royal Champion”
- United Arab Emirates: “Military Order”
- Ireland: “Galán”
- France: “Bright Picture”
To enrich the race-day experience, the REHC has developed an interactive and family-friendly programme of entertainment and competitions, with tickets accessible via bahrainturfclub.com or available for purchase at the racecourse gates.
Adding an extra layer of excitement, the popular “Select 6” competition returns, inviting fans to predict six winning horses on bahrainselect6.com for a chance to secure cash prizes. Marking a local first, a new Horse Racing Fantasy game will also debut. Available via the App Store and Google Play, the game offers a dynamic and interactive way for users to select their favourite horses and compete virtually—part of the REHC’s broader effort to increase fan engagement and participation.
This year’s edition of the Bahrain International Trophy boasts a stellar cast of trainers, including established names such as Joseph O’Brien, John Gosden, Charlie Appleby, and André Fabre from Britain and France, along with Bahrain’s Fawzi Nass. The list of elite jockeys in attendance includes William Buick, James Doyle, Oisin Murphy, Robert Havlin, emerging talent Dylan McMonagle, and France’s Maxime Guyon, all contributing to what promises to be a riveting race day.
Adding to the spectacle, the event will feature an additional seven races for the sponsors’ cups, showcasing 66 horses from across Bahrain’s imported, locally bred, and pure Arabian categories—ensuring a diverse and thrilling day of competition on the storied Sakhir track.
