UAE Recognised as Global Leader in Muay Thai Development by IFMA
The International Muay Thai Federation (IFMA) has officially recognised the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a global leader for its outstanding efforts in the development of Muay Thai and the professional organisation of international sporting events.
According to Stephen Fox, Secretary-General of IFMA, the current edition of the Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi has achieved a historic record, featuring 2,000 participants that include both athletes and administrative delegations representing 100 countries. The event also saw record participation by the UAE national team, with 122 male and female athletes entered across a range of categories and weight classes.
In his statement, Stephen Fox commended the event’s neat organisation and highlighted the provision of all essential arrangements. He emphasised: “This underscores the great confidence in the UAE’s capabilities to manage this impressive turnout and the global growth of the sport within the country, from grassroots to elite levels, thanks to the efforts of Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federations and President of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation.”
He noted that hosting the Youth World Championships for the first time in the Middle East has fostered a unique and special atmosphere, with heightened enthusiasm among the participants, particularly in the youth categories.
